Position Summary:

Hotwire Communications, Ltd. is currently seeking a Construction Project Manager to join our team in Ft. Lauderdale, FL reporting to the Sr. Program Manager. The Construction Project Manager will be responsible for all aspects of small cell site construction on projects including; on-site management, coordination of subcontractors, OEM installers and customer representatives. The successful candidate will represent as the expert on construction issues relating to small cell projects, includingpublic right-of-way Small Cells along with the associated inside and outside plant construction methods.  Oversight will include activities related to above and below-ground fiber installation, hub construction, node construction and related utility make-ready. Ensure all assigned projects are completed according to mutually agreed upon timeline of the customer. Ensure District and/or Program and Project Managers and customers are aware of issues that will impact project completion or cost. Ensure all work is conducted in accordance with policies and procedures in support of defined objectives.


Essential Job Functions

  • Make regular trips to sites during construction including: bid walk, precon walk, in progress site visits, punch walks and construction closeout

  • Understand prevailing rates for all construction work and ensure the customer is receiving competitive rates for quality work

  • Ensure Project Manager is updated daily on the status of construction and aware of any issues that will impact project cost, quality or timely completion

  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with established construction standards, processes, and procedures

  • Ensure accurate and complete files are maintained for projects and appropriate closeout documents are distributed in a timely manner and are in accordance with corporate and customer standards

  • Close project and ensure quality controls prior to final handoff to operations

  • Ensure that all jobs are maintained in a project tracking system with complete accuracy

  • Create and Lead Bi-Weekly Status Reports/Meetings including sales penetration, construction timelines

  • Familiarize with contract and any verbal agreements identified as deliverables and take responsibility to ensure those deliverables are being met as outlined on time

  • Manager and supervise subcontractors

  • Review and approve SOW from Engineering, Construction and Plant groups. Ensure Construction schedules are being met. Ensure construction is completed and tested prior to TCO in new construction buildings.

  • Review budget with EVP one on one and ensure that job does not exceed the budgeted amount. Identify areas of cost savings or efficiency for the budget if possible.

  • Create project plan including timelines for implementation including engineering, construction, purchasing, marketing, customer impact and scheduling considerations

  • Determine and communicate on site operational staffing requirements to VP Residential Operations

  • Obtain executive approval of final project plan including timelines

  • Hold each intercompany department responsible for individual deliverables including Ensure purchases orders are issued in timely manner

  • Periodic inspection of professional and quality installation work

  • Initial and ongoing coordination with property developer or property management personnel

  • Responsible for delivering on time and within budget dictated by contracts and executive parameters

  • Coordinate the set-up of tradeshow booths/demos




  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • A valid driver’s license required


Experience/Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum three (3) years of telecommunications/wireless construction experience
  • Knowledge of Outside Plant Construction techniques (aerial & underground)
  • Familiarity with test equipment and techniques for performing RF Sweep test, OTDR, Power & Light Meters. 
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends as necessary

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated success in previous project management role

  • Knowledge of site acquisition procedures, including regulatory and permitting process
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Ability to direct and diagnose work flow problems, critical paths and institute remedies
  • Customer service orientation with a strong problem solving approach - strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer skills - MS office and project management software knowledge

Working Conditions:

Will be required to travel to project sites with exposure to heavy equipment and environmental conditions 90% of the time. Works in a normal office setting with no exposure to adverse environmental conditions 10% of the time.
